Type: Residential – Remodel and Addition
Location: Golf Club Rd., Pleasant Hill, California
TECTA breathed new life into this hidden hilltop gem, transforming a dated single-story home into a refined, modern retreat. Strategic site clearing enhanced fire safety, opened panoramic views, and improved overall functionality. The design introduced a workshop and future ADU provisions, maximizing the lot’s potential while honoring its natural beauty.
The approach was reimagined: a once modest walkway became an elegant promenade leading to a proud, elevated entry. An awkward courtyard gave way to a striking great room, emphasizing the layered roofline and commanding presence atop the hill.
Inside, fragmented communal spaces were reconnected, restoring the home’s original midcentury openness. Ceilings were raised to enhance volume while preserving the elegant roof form. Carefully designed lighting highlighted key areas without overwhelming the space, and expansive windows and sliding glass doors revealed sweeping valley and mountain views.
Private bathrooms were thoughtfully placed for the five bedrooms, and a powder room was added near the great room. Custom millwork served as both functional storage and architectural feature, blending utility with design.
