As neighborhoods around USC evolved into student housing hubs, this corner lot project embraced change while prioritizing community respect. Developed over several years amid shifting laws and codes, the result was a streamlined construction process and an optimized design.
Unlike many large, monolithic structures nearby, this low-profile residence—with its ADU thoughtfully positioned at the rear—was designed to enhance the corner presence without overshadowing neighboring properties. By preserving key elements of the original structure and using varied materials, colors, and planes, the design maximized space while ensuring light, ventilation, and a sense of openness. The project stands as both a successful venture and a good neighbor.
